Does this replace CoreProtect?

No. CoreProtect (or Prism / Ledger) owns who touched the block and rollback. CauseChain owns /why on chains it captured. Empty inspect says to use /co i. Keep both.

Is inspect /co i?

No. /why inspect and /why here only show captured causal chains (death, deny, TNT, fire, WorldEdit, …) at that location. They do not look up who placed the block. If there is no chain, chat names the land when it can and tells you to run CoreProtect /co i.

Platforms

Does CauseChain support Folia?

Scheduler support is real: region, entity, global, and async schedulers, with folia-supported: true. There is no published Folia stress run. Smoke TNT plus death on your Folia jar before you treat it as production-proven. That is not a claim for every Folia fork or untested future build.

Java and Paper versions?

Java 21+. Paper API 1.21. Paper 26.x servers typically need Java 25+ at runtime.

Protection plugins

Does it name Lands?

No. Lands (and other protection plugins without an adapter) are not named. WorldGuard and GriefPrevention are. If the platform exposes getCancelledBy, that plugin name can appear; otherwise the denier stays unidentified rather than guessed.

Two plugins both deny?

Both are listed. CauseChain does not pick a winner.

Features

Is there rewind / rollback?

No. /rewind is not implemented. remediation.enabled: true logs a warning and is ignored. Use CoreProtect (or your logger) for rollback. CauseChain does not guess reversible mutations.

Why does /why say unknown?

Unknown is a valid answer. Summoned TNT, void, and some fire/redstone have no recorded parent. CauseChain will not invent one. Inferred edges are labeled; correlation is not proof.

Will it log every successful place and break?

No. That is what a block logger is for. CauseChain captures deaths, denials, explosions, projectiles, fire, falling blocks, and WorldEdit operations you enable in capture.*.

Storage

How large can the database get?

retention.max-database-size-mb (default 2048) and retention.days (default 14). If both limits are hit, size wins: oldest complete traces are purged first. /cc status shows size.

Is there a cloud or remote upload?

No. Traces stay on disk. privacy.telemetry must stay false (reload rejects true). bStats plugin 33693 is anonymous server counts only; opt out with privacy.bstats: false.

Operations

Can I Bukkit /reload?

No. Do not use Bukkit /reload. Use /cc reload for safe config keys, or a full restart (especially on Folia).

Where is the download?

Download CauseChain-1.0.0.jar from Spigot. The Modrinth project exists and may still be under review.
