/co i is who touched the block. /why is how this became that.
It records causal chains on Paper and Folia — death, a named WorldGuard or GriefPrevention deny, fire, TNT, projectiles, and WorldEdit — then answers in chat. It is not a block-history logger and does not replace CoreProtect lookup or rollback.

Five jobs
- Punch death —
/whyafter you die.Alex ignited TNT → explosioninstead ofSteve was blown up by TNT. - Named deny —
/why denynamesWorldGuard spawn (visitor) / …orGriefPrevention <owner> (visitor) / …. - Inspect captured chains —
/why inspecton fire, TNT, or WorldEdit inside land you can build in. Empty inspect names the land and points at CoreProtect/co i. - Bow kill — projectile chain; a dispenser stays a dispenser.
- WorldEdit
//set— one semantic node plus an effect set. Staff still get global/why,/chain, evidence, and optional particle traces.
Compatibility
- Server software: Paper or Folia (
folia-supported: true) - API: Paper
1.21(api-version: "1.21") - Java: Java 21 or newer. Paper 26.x hosts typically need Java 25+ at runtime
- License: Apache License 2.0. No account, no cloud, no extra JARs for the five jobs
- Keep CoreProtect (or Prism / Ledger) if you need who-placed-this and rollback
Soft-depends: WorldGuard, GriefPrevention, WorldEdit / FastAsyncWorldEdit, CoreProtect, PlaceholderAPI. Missing plugins do not crash CauseChain. Lands is not named until an adapter exists.
