# FAQ

> License, Folia, Geyser, auto-ban, Vault freeze, demo jar, and Bukkit /reload.

## What is Halt?

Halt is incident response for dupes, crashes, and economy abuse: four watch modules, persisted staff cases, Discord, reversible lockdowns, and optional auto-contain. Default is watch-only. `/halt arm contain` is the kill-switch.

## License

### Do I need a license key?

Yes for the paid jar. Set `license_key` in `plugins/Halt/config.yml`. Claim product id **`HALT`** in Discord (`/claim HALT`), then paste the key and **restart**. `/halt reload` does not re-check it.

The paid jar verifies at `https://matt-drm.vercel.app/api/verify`. Hardware identity uses OS/arch/user plus `http://checkip.amazonaws.com`. Empty keys and `YOUR_KEY_HERE` fail. Invalid keys never start Halt. License-server or HTTP 5xx failures may start Halt only when a 72-hour local cache matches the current key hash.

### What is the demo jar?

The BuiltByBit test-server zip uses `Halt-1.0.0-demo.jar` with DRM compiled off. That jar ignores an empty key. Invalid keys still disable Halt. Production servers should run the paid `Halt-1.0.0.jar`.

## Does Halt require other plugins?

No. PlaceholderAPI, CoreProtect, GrimAC, and Vulcan are optional. Missing plugins do not crash Halt. Discord webhook alerts need a URL in `alerts.yml`.

## Does Halt replace LPX / ExploitFixer / Grim / Vulcan?

No. Packet tools and combat ACs stay. Halt is the incident-response layer. See [Recommended stacks](/halt/stacks).

## Does Halt auto-ban?

No. Defaults are alerts. Armed contain restricts the player and matching mechanic. Optional `punish.commands` stay off until you enable them, and `/halt incident <id> punish` is still staff-triggered.

## Is economy lockdown a Vault freeze?

No. It blocks configured shop/trade **commands** and item-transfer systems (shulkers, hoppers, drops, containers) from `lockdowns.yml`. Account balances are not frozen.

## Platforms

### Does Halt support Folia?

Yes. `folia-supported: true` and Paper scheduler APIs (not BukkitScheduler). Paper-compatible `1.20.1` through `26.2`. Folia **1.20.1** and **26.1.2** are the supported Folia line. Folia **26.2** is experimental. That is not a claim for every Folia fork.

### Java and Paper versions?

Halt bytecode is **Java 17**. Host Java:

* **1.20.1–1.20.4**: Java **17**
* **1.20.5–1.21.x**: Java **21**
* **26.1+**: Java **25** (the server requires it)

One jar. `api-version: "1.20"` so 1.20.1 hosts still load it.

## Geyser / Bedrock

FreecamWatch defaults to `geyser_lenient: true` with looser reach and angle for Geyser/Floodgate client brands. That reduces Bedrock false flags. It does not make Freecam "unaffected" on Geyser, and Halt does not block freecam clients on join.

## Storage

### Does Halt support MySQL?

Yes. SQLite is the default. Switch with `/halt migrate storage --apply-config` then a restart. See [Installation](/halt/installation).

### Can I Bukkit `/reload`?

No. Use `/halt reload` for safe keys, or a full restart (especially on Folia). Storage engine, SQLite file, and MySQL credentials are restart-required.

## Support tickets

Include Halt version, server software and version, Java version, plugin list, `/halt status`, a console snippet, steps to reproduce, and the `modules` / `containment` sections of `config.yml`.
